Looking for information about the DELANEY family who lived in Newton, MA at the turn of the 20th century.

James DELANEY, also spelled Delany (son of William Delaney and Mary Monahan) was born 06 Apr 1838 in Wakefield, Yorkshire, England, and died 27 Apr 1907 in Newton, Middlesex, MA. He married (1) Margaret Moran on 26 Feb 1865 in Boston, Suffolk, MA, daughter of Patrick and Margaret Moran. He married (2) Katherine Lyons on 16 Oct 1888 in Boston, Suffolk, MA.

Mr DELANEY was a Civil War Veteran who fought with the 2nd MA Infantry in, among other places, Antietam and Gettysburg. After the war, he settled in Newton, MA, after spending some time in Watertown, MA.

He and Margaret had three children, John James Delaney, b. Abt. 1867, MA, d. 27 Feb 1939, Newton, Middlesex, MA., Mary Ann Delaney, b. 19 Sep 1868, Zanesville, Ohio, d. 19 Jun 1948, Cambridge, Middlesex, MA. and Alice E Delaney.

John married Johanna Frances Barry on 26 Sep 1895 in Newton, Middlesex, MA and they had two children, Catherine and James.

Mary Ann married Thomas Francis Murray on 11 Oct 1892 in Boston, Suffolk, MA and they had six children, Catherine, Gertrude, Bernard, Veronica, Alice and Edward.

Alice married Clinton Thomas Webster on 02 Oct 1901 in North Easton, MA. They too had six children, Gerald, Walter, Merle, Genevive, Murriel, Clarence.

If anyone knows about any of these families, I would love to get in touch and compare notes.

Walter
