Hi Dave. Thanks for replying to my post. My sister and i have been wondering what happened to young Ellen. We couldn't find her on any of the censuses. Now we know why! Regarding the 1881 census, we believe that Ellen, the Mother, died before that as the family seems to have been split up. Daniel appears in a workhouse as a widower, Margerate and Catherine were with the Murrays, Thomas was in a different workhouse and Amelia was in a Convent. We found a John Delaney, of a similar age, in a lunatic asylum. However he is listed as a decorator and not a stonemason so we cannot be sure if its the same one. Elizabeth and Michael are the only ones that we can't find on the 1881 census, now, as young Daniel, my Great Grandfather joined the army in 1881 until 1888. I do, however, have a Michael Delaney in 1901 married to Annie. Could this be Anna on the Baptism certificate? They have 2 daughters. Lavinia and Ellen. You won't be surprise to learn that he was a stonemason!! We have pretty much all of the Delaneys that come from young Daniel, as my late Uncle was slowly working his way through the history before he died. My sister and i appear to have been appointed family historians! I have copies of all the census documents we have found if you would like to see them. Hope this helps a little Regards Martin Notify Administrator about this message?
