John R. Delaney EL CAJON, Calif. — John R. (Jack) Delaney, 70, of El Cajon, Calif., and formerly from Oneonta, died on Wednesday, Oct. 14, 1998, at the San Diego Hospice, San Diego. He was born on Aug. 8, 1928 in Oneonta, the son of John and Margaret (Munson) Delaney. He was first married to the late Mary Delaney. He then married Regina Tucci on Sept. 21, 1977. She died on Aug. 6, 1994. Jack served in World War II as a paratrooper. Jack was employed by the New York State Department of Health as an inspector. He and his wife, Regina, moved to California in the 1980s. Jack later became a manager of a car dealership in the San Diego area. He was a member of the VFW Post 2275, El Cajon, Calif., and a past All American Commander. He was well known for his easygoing manner and lighthearted humor. He will be greatly missed by his family: his son, Kevin Delaney of Virgina Beach, Va.; his stepchildren, Gary Chamberlain of Ballston Spa, and Dawn Woodruff of San Diego; his sister, Betty Eldridge; his niece, Margaret (Peggy) Elwood; greatniece, Terri Dukes; and great-greatnieces, Riley and Maggie Dukes, all of Fairbanks, Alaska; and friends, including Al and Linda Wheelock of El Cajon, Calif. A private graveside service will be held on Wednesday, Nov. 11, 1998, at noon, in Mount Calvary Cemetery, Emmons, with the Rev. Paul Roman, pastor of St. Mary's Church, officiating.
