Marjorie, Second instalment---the same book mentioned in first reply tells about Hayden Delaney, grandson of Philip Delaney who entered the US Army at age 15 and was an ordely to General Logan. He became a hero in the Civil War by bringing up ammunition to the troups under fire in his hat. At close of the war he was appointed to West Point & served in the Indian wars as a lt.,wounded twice and died in CA. His brother Cyrus entered Civil War at 17. After the war he was appointed Capt. in tht reg. army and also died in the service. Hayden and Cyrus were the sons of Samuel Delaney of Harrison Co., OH.(Grandsons of Philip & Elizabeth Delaney.)

3.Philip of Harrison Co.,OH bought 320 acres of land in Richland Co.,OH in 1814. Range 19, Twp. 21, sec. A N 1/2 .

Philip is listed in the 1790 & 1800 census in Redstone Twp Fayette Co., PA

Land records show section 9 in OH "which sec.as above numbered was by patent dated at the city of Washington the 10 th. day of Sept 1806, under the hand of the President, and seal of the USA granted to Philip Delaney .

I have 9 children for Phillip and Elizabeth Clark Betts.
Hope this helps Joy
