William Delaney Bowery was the son of Andrew Thomas Bowery, b. 1-30-1825, the son of John Bowery, b.ca1773, the son of Francis Bowery, all of Sullivan County, Tennessee. All of Andrew Thomas's sons were named after an identifiable ancestor except William Delaney Bowery. All of his ancestor's surnames are known to us with the exception of Francis Bowery's wife, Margaret. We are researching the possibility that his name came from Margaret's parents or grandparents. We know there was a William Delaney in the Sullivan County area. Was Margaret's name Margaret Delaney prior to her marriage to Francis Bowery? Did she have a father named William Delaney?
