Because of the family tradition that my DeLancey are linked to the "Famous" DeLancey's, I have researched Etienne DeLancey on down as much as possible, mostly through printed sources available locally. This info is in one book. (Although it gets a bit inaccurate on how people are related to each other.)

Oliver DeLancey, son of Etienne DeLancey, 1718-1785. b. Westmoreland Co, NY. Loyalist officer (Brig Gen), landowner, merchant. New York political leader before the Revolution; loyalist officer in America; raised the 1500-man brigade known as "DeLancey's Battalion," or "DeLancey's New York Volunteers", which served with distinction throughout the south as well as in Queens County, NY; (People & Events of the American Revolution, by T.N. Dupuy, copyright 1974, p312)

There is also a website for Oliver DeLancey, produced by members of a DeLancey's Brigade re-enactment group in Canada. Here's the address.

Hope this helps.
