Hi Adele:
You must be related to Jerry and Claire DeLancey who live in Vermont. I'm afraid I have a "disconnect" in my database after Oliver DeLancey. In other words, I have no record of a William Arnold DeLancey, nor any record of a Washington Grey DeLancey. I have also double-checked D.A. Story's 1931 book, "The DeLanceys," which lists no William Arnold or Washington Grey. Here is what I DO have:
Etienne DeLancey (1663-1741)
Peter DeLancey (1705-1770)
Oliver DeLancey (1749-1820) m.Rachel Hunt in 1782
John James DeLancey (n.d.) m. Mary Dawley
Just because I don't have it listed in my database doesn't mean it's not correct. Can you give me the birth/death dates for William Arnold DeLancey and Washington Grey DeLancey? Who comes after Washington Grey DeLancey? If you can work your way back from the present day through each successive generation, then we might be able to link the information you have with the information I have. Please stay in touch, and let's try to solve this mystery together.
