Oliver: Etienne had a son named Oliver (1) who had a son named Oliver (2) who is supposed to have had a natural son named Oliver (3). Etienne had a son named Peter who had a son named Oliver (4). Peter also had a son named James who had a son named Oliver (5). James also had a son named Peter who had a son named Oliver (6) who had a son named George who had a son named Oliver (7). Etienne had a son named James who had a son named James who by his first wife had a son named John who had a son named Oliver (8)John also had a son named John who had a son named Oliver (9). Now Olivers 3,5,6,8, & 9 were all in the British Army at the same time but at different ranks because of their age. Historians agree that the hero of San Sabastian was Oliver DeLancey but they can't agree as to which one it was. Now we won't get into the Stephens :o) As for Maria. Several historians have speculated that the Maria that married Robert Dickson (in Nova Scotia) must have been the natural child of Oliver (the son of Oliver the son of Etienne) because she did not make as advantagous a marriage ($$$ and rank) as the other daughters of Oliver (the son of Etienne). I know I have a copies of pages taken from historical books from Annapolis, Nova Scotia that state her age at the time of death (just can't lay my hands on them) and the math just does not compute. If she was the natural daughter of Oliver the son of Oliver the son of Etienne -- welllll -- he would have been producing children just as he entered puberty. I believe that the child buried in Trinity Church with the name Maria who died at age 5/6 around 1776/7 was most likely Oliver's (the son of Oliver the son of Etienne) child.
