Phillip DELANCEY was born before 1774, possibly in NY or PA. His father may have been Francis DELANCEY and his mother Maria _____. Phillip marr. Margaret STARR, 17 Jan. 1786, Sherman's Valley, Cumberland Co., PA. In 1790 Phillip was living in Hopewell, Newton, Tyborn or Westpensboro Tsp., Cumberland Co., PA. No other people are listed in the household, suggesting a possible breakup of the family. Family tradition states that Phillip left his wife and children and wasn't heard from again. Phillip and Margaret had three children - John born 1786, Maria born 1788 and Moses born 1790. Margaret and the children moved to southeast OH where they lived out the remainder of their lives. I'm trying to verify the tradition that Phillip left his family and find out when and where he died. Any help would be appreciated, and I would be glad to share about this DELANCEY family.
