I knonw this is very late but my name is Elton L. Powell
and my brother was married to a descendant of John Dekle and his daughter, Susannah Dekle, Deakle, Miller. She married a Deakle cousin that had changed their name to DeAkle before she married Henry Miller. I researched this line of Deakles before I quit some years ago. I saw the confusion of the name change to deakle that was associared with Susannah. Her two sons, James Andrew Deakle and Willis Deakle claimed her as their mother but since only the name of Miller usually turned up most thought that the boys were born out of wedlock. I have run into this sort of thing in my Powell line. It cleared up but not without a lot of digging. the lack of vital statistics and family Bibles makes the digging difficult. Both these boys are buried in Union Baptist Church Cemetery in Grand Bay, Mobile Co, Ala. My brother's wife, Dorothy Sue (Deakle)Powell died in 1985, buried in Silver Spring, Maryland.
