James McCUTCHEON was the husband of April 07, 1775 b. Catherine McCLUNG. Sarah Louisa McCLUNG was his neice by marriage. Sarah's parents were James McCLUNG & Mary "Polly" ALDERSON (my line), one set of my 4th Gr-Grandparents. James5 McClung (William4, John3, John2, James1)was born March 24, 1770 in Rockbridge Co., Virginia, and died July 24, 1824 in Greenbrier Co., (W)VA. He married Mary Alderson March 15, 1803 in Monroe Co., VA, daughter of George ALDERSON and Sarah OSBORNE. Mary was born May 13, 1787 in Greenbrier Co., (W)VA, and died May 13, 1870 in Nicholas Co., WV. Mary is buried at Mt. Pleasant Baptist Church Cemetery in Mt. Lookout, Nicholas Co., (W)VA. Per the McCLUNG network: 2-4 JAMES McCLUNG G0490 The second child of William and Abigail DICKINSON McCLUNG was b. 24 Mar 1770 in Rockbridge Co., VA. He married Mary ALDERSON, dau. of George ALDERSON and grand-dau of Rev. John ALDERSON 15 Mar 1803 (Monroe Mg 1799-1869,14). She was b. 13 May 1787; d. 13 May 1870. A monument was erected to her memory at Mt. Lookout, WV by her descendants. As a young woman she rode a horse to Richmond, VA to obtain a patent to a large tract of land between Gauley and Meadow River. She and James offered their children and nephews 400 acres each if they would get married and settle on it. Five of their sons accepted the offer. They were married in Monroe County,WV. (JG) James was the father of many of the pioneer McClungs in the Mt. Lookout, WV. area. They had nine children. James died 24 July 1824. Aforementioned James McCLUNG & Catherine McCLUNG were siblings. John DEITZ's parents were William DEITZ (b. 1754 Bonn, Germany) & Jane VACHUB (b. abt 1775) Rockbridge Co., VA. William & Jane VACHUB DEITZ are one set of my 4th gr-grandparents (as well). I've heard that SOME of the lines changed the name VACHUB to WALKUP (which I find a little more than confusing).
