I am interested in the Deits family from Beaver Dam, Wi. My gggf, David Deits, settled there in the 1840's from New York. Our branch is descended from his son, Philander, who moved to S Dakota, then to Washington. Another branch is descended from Davids eldest son, Christopher Columbus, who moved to the Boulder, Colorado area. The spelling is consistently 'Deits' for all generations in both branches. There is another Philander Deits who lived on Martha's Vineyard at about the same time, which confuses things a bit (I have photos of both Philander Deits's headstones, one in Martha's Vineyard and one in Seattle). That branch also goes back to NY. I am hoping to get to NY this year to connect David to his parents.
Any information would be appreciated; I'm happy to share what I have so far. -Tom Deits
