Thanks Beth. I am slowly putting together bits and pieces which I hope will someday make better sense of the Berks County DeHarts.

I do most of my work on these families on the Pa-Berks-List on Rootsweb. I guess I should see about the Yahoo group, but how do I find it?

About Jeremiah, possible son of John & Mary --he would be the youngest of a big family. There was also a Lydia born ca 1820. It's possible that Jeremiah was a grandchild, and if so, Lydia might have been also. it's posible I have them in the wrong family. So far what I have is only the 1821 birth or baptism date for him; I'll see what else I can find in my notes.

But look out --you're missing a whole generation here. John Dehart who married Mary Horner is correct, but John was not Cornelius' son. He was actually John DeHart II (Jr.), the son of John (Johan) DeHart who married Elizabeth Weidner.

This is what I have on them:
Johan John DeHart II
- Born on 22 November 1776 - Amity Twp. Berks Co. PA
- Baptized as an adult by Rev. Boos in Oct. 1778.
- Married 23 September 1795, St. Paul's Union Ch. Amityville, Berks Co., PA, to Mary HORNER
- Died on 1 August 1874 - Exeter Twp. Berks Co. PA
- Buried - Spies Ch. Cem. Alsace Twp, Berks PA

Rev. Boos also baptized some of his children.

His father John DeHart (I)
Johann DeHart I
- Born in 1752 - Amity Twp., Berks Co., PA
- Married in 1772, Berks Co. PA, to Elizabeth WEIDNER of Oley.
- Served in Rev War under Capt. John Rhoads (5th Company)
- Died on 23 June 1805 - Amity Twp. Berks Co. PA
- Buried - Falkner Swamp Ref. Church, Montgomery Co. PA
[this is only a few miles east of where they lived in Amity]
--Will (LOA) to son John Sept. 26, 1805: "DeHart, John, Amity. Adm. to John, a son. Elizabeth the widow renouncing."

Elizabeth WEIDNER's family is huge. Her father was George Adam Weidner (c1710-1780), son of Adam; her mother was Dorothea Greiner (1717-1807), daughter of Johan Deterich Greiner and Dorothea Emmert.
[WEIDNER, Dorothea, widow. Amity. August 15, 1807. Adm. to Elizabeth DeHart, a dau.]
I have more on these if you need it.

1. Cornelius DEHART 1708-1779 (Prob. s/o Elias Symonsz & Cat. Laen)
+ Maria Catherine (Surname Unknown)
..2. Johann John DEHART 1752-1805 (baptized 1778)
...+ Elizabeth WEIDNER 1750-1825 (married 1772)
...3. Johan John DEHART II 1776-1874
....+ Mary HORNER 1778-1859 (married 1795)
.......4. William DEHART 1796
.......4. Rachel DEHART Bap. Nov. 18, 1798
.......4. David DEHART 1800
.......4. John DEHART III 1802
.......4. Jacob DEHART 1804
.......4. Annie DEHART 1805
.......4. Gilbert DEHART 1809
.......4. Abraham DEHART 1811
.......4. Amos DEHART 1813
.......4. Mary DEHART 1815-1903 (my 3-g-grandmother)
.......4. Lydia DEHART 1820
.......4. Jeremiah DEHART 1821
...3. Rachel DEHART [need dates]
...3. David DEHART [need dates]
...3. Jacob DEHART 1790-1834

These are all born in Berks County PA. It's tricky because a lot of people in this era, in this part of PA, were baptized as adults or as adolecscents.

About the tree above, I am not convinced that I have all of the children of John DeHart I and Elizabeth Weidner yet. As you can see I also need some data yet.

But I have a lot more here. If you would like anything else, you're very welcome to e-mail me direct. <iris.gatesATgmailDOTcom> I can get you back a few generations in the wives families also, in the Weidners and in the Horners and in the Greiners. For the Horners, I can tell you what ship they came in on.

Let me know what else you need... meanwhile I'll see what else I can discover about Jeremiah.

Meanwhile, good luck to you too. & thanks again.
