Parthena is a name that I recognize ..although at the moment, i can't remember exactly why. I honestly believe it is connected to the Cherokee research I was doing.Reading these followups made me respond, and all that I have is a family story... since THIS DeGraffenreid name is the one I am just beginning to research... passed through generations of us, and lacking alot of detail is this story..
There were three Degraffenreid brothers who "came here" from Spain.. after a time, they split up.. one came to what is now Alabama, one went to Texas and the other we do not know about. The Texas and Alabama brothers changed their name to Reid.
(The one here in Alabama,Reuben, did own alot of land, and slaves, and married a native american woman,Rose. This is part of my family, and I would be grateful if any of you have any info to share.)
