Hello out there!
I am trying to find my Dichroff ancestors. William I and Henry came about 1872 with their step-sister. William I was married twice. They went to Horicon, Wisconsin. William II born at Forvex, Koenigsburg, East Prussia 7/16/1864 and was 7 years old when in came. He and his wife Alvina Weege came to Merrill, Wi. Henry went to Grafton, South Dakota. The step-sister must be my Great-grandmother Hermina. She married August Meyer a brick maker about 1872.
I found that she was born in Saalfeld, Germany, in 1854 her "sister" Johanna or Josephine in Vorwerk, Germany. There was a sister Laura also. Johanna's mother was listed as Catherine Wegner. Hermina Dichroff Meyer might be a half sister. I don't know where the step sister comes in, as Hermina's death certificate gives William as her father.
I think the Dichroff's were in the military and William I might have decided this is enough and headed for America. I haven't been able to find out where they were and when they came to Horicon, Wi. There are a lot of DeGraffs in the New York and Pennsylvania area so maybe they settled there for a while.
I have a little more information but if anyone can de-cipher all this, please e-mail me.
