De France in Auxerre, France, in 1700's

Charles Joseph De France (according to his 1832 death record in Givet, Ardennes, France) was baptized in Auxerre, Yonne, France on 22 Aug 1772. The parents were not given.

Charles was married to Marie Catherine Gerardu, possibly in Maastricht, Limburg, Netherlands, where their son, Charles, was born in 1810. She survived him and was still alive in 1835, living in Givet.

There are at least 15 Catholic churches in Auxerre with baptismal records covering 1772, so I have my work cut out for me to achieve the next generation.

I would like to hear from anyone with De France ancestors or relatives from Auxerre.

Follow the link, below, to my web page with a transcription and translation of Charles' death record. There is also a map and a picture of his last residence.
