To David Shannon:

I found your message about the de Forests was very interesting because you mentioned an Isaac de Forest ["Forest" is just an anglicanization of "Foret," which really should have a circumflex on the "e"], born 1616 in Leyden, Holland. I am the ancestor of Rachel de Forest, who married Dr. Johannes de la Montagne in 1626 in Leyden. This means that she probably was born about 1610. The couple emigrated from Leyden to New Amsterdam, where he was a well-known as a Huguenot physician. It would not be surprising if she were a relative, maybe a sister, to Isaac.

Could you possibly tell me where you heard of Jean de Foret, supposed ancestor of Isaac and David? What other websites are there out there about de Forests?

Thanks so much. Sue Ellen Fealko
