The Dees' originated in Scotland. The name Deese is probably French. The problem is proving which is which. Illiteracy changed a lot of names forever. Good luck finding the correct spelling.
I am looking for my grandfather's father. The name was Deese. He was French (so my grandfather said) and taught French in Denton Co. or Tarrant Co., Texas in the 1850's. Don't know a first name. My grandfather's name was Robert Nicholas - maybe a connection there - for there are no other Nicholas' in the family. Sorry if I broke any rules!
