Cousins,
Please assist me in compiling information on my ggrandmother Millie Adaline Deese/Dease b. 1881 AL - d. 1974 FL and her family. She was married to John Wesley Tice b. 1877 AL - d. 1932 LA (died in the line of duty as a Deputy Sheriff in East Baton Rouge Parish, LA). She was born in Jasper, AL and she told the family she and her family were poor mountain people who were sitting on vast amounts of coal in North Central AL when the coal companies or government came in and kicked them off the land. Since they could barely read or write they were helpless and vulnerable. She moved to Dothan, AL in southern AL where my grandmother and her siblings were born. Millie's siblings are: Liddy Ann, Cintha J., Annie Lou, James M. Jr, Ira O.
I need to confirm Millie's parents - I have them as James M. Dease and Silia M. ?, with no proof, this information came from Rootsweb family search, therefore, it's suspect at best. Does the coal story ring a bell with anyone out there and if you have any additional information on James M. Dease Sr and Selia I would love to hear from you.
