Searching for information on Mary Elizabeth "Polly" Deen (also spelled Dean). According to papers filed with the Dawes Commission by descendents, she was born in Wilkes County, GA, late 1700s. Married James Daugherty Jr., who was part Cherokee, in what is now Dawson County, GA. Mary may have also been part Indian since census records of those Cherokees remaining in Georgia after the "Trail of Tears" record her as "mixed blood."
Would appreciate any information.
