I want to add that a Culpepper family lived in Washington County on Big Creek along with the Deens/Deans.
Elijah and Richard changed the spelling of their name when they moved to Houston County, GA, in 1826, although variations in the spelling continued throughout the period of their residency in Georgia and in Alabama.
