This is a correction to the information I posted on July 24, 2002. The children listed with John and Elizabeth "Deam" in the 1850 census for Salem Twp., Muskingum County, Ohio, DO NOT include the Hillier children. There is an error in the page sequence of the copy of the census I was using which made it appear that the Hillier children were living with the Deam family. The correct children listed for Elizabeth and John "Deam" are as follows: Ruth A., age 11; Joseph L., age 9; John H. (or K?), age 7; Thomas L., age 5; Hamilton, age 4; Mary E. age 2, and Charles W., age 10/12. I believe that Thomas L. is Thomas Lakin Deem, and that Hamilton is actually William Hamilton Deem. Sorry for the mistake.
