William and Winnifred Deeley,Scotland/England
I have done as much as I can here in the US in tracing my family.I am back to William Deeley, B 1812 in Scotland. His wife Winifred and their children, William, Winifred,Arthur(my G grandfather)John, Susanne, and Elsia. It seems they came to the US in around 1849, To New York. They went to New Brunswick, New Jersey and opened a foundry called, Phoenix Brass and Iron.(They seem to have invented a shotgun locking devise called the Ansen/Deeley Lock)Te Co is still in business as The Phoenix Brass Lock(they list thier starting date as 187?, which may be when the Co was sold by my GGGrandfather Wm.It is when they cease to show up in records in New Jersey.
My GGrandfather, Arthur came to Pa. Pottsville, and Married Emma Fredricks, from Minersville. He escaped his Father by joining the US Navy, while in Annopolis learning aluminum molding, He served on the Wabash, during the civil War.He died of a head injury in a foundry accident, at age 38.I have found numerous notes regarding Wm. from Birmingham and such. But none pan out to be my GGGrand. He died in Jersey or, went back to New York and died when ?
Any input would be appreciated.I have many original photos and doc.I think Fred Deeley of Canada (Harley Fame) might be from one ofthese Unkles.
Thanks
Norman Deeley
