She was born August 31, 1856 in Jackson Township, Sullivan Co., MO to Lewis Napolean Bonaparte "Bony" and Sarah Newman Deeds. Her father died in Corinth, MS during the Civil War when Martha Jane was 7 years old. She married Lewis Oliver Rodgers on Sept. 16, 1877 and had several children (Elza Cicero, Olive Edna, William Jessie, Louis Ova, Effie June, Grover Allen, Lenny Coleman, Winnie Elsie and Herbert Oliver). She died Oct. 3, 1954 after obtaining a blood clot in her leg. My mother remembers her well. I have LOTS of info on the Deeds Family. Please write.
