Dotty, I just returned froma trip to Jumping Branch. My gggfathers home is still there, beautifully maintained ny Ms. Macie Reed. I saw pictures of 4 generations of Deeds',but am not sure of their names. I am returning on 6-15-2002 for a week and intend on taping the Jumping Branch history from every Deeds,Lilly, Meador and Ball I can find. This was my first trip down there(I live in CT), it will not be my last. Upon my return, I will e-mail you all the info I can find. There are 3 cemetaries I found that have Deeds ancestors in them, so I will supply that to you also. The courthouse was built in 1875, so I'm not sure what is in there from an earlier period, but I intend to find out. I was overwhelmed by the amount of verbal history that was relayed to me; Civil war stories, family members surveying with George Washington, guys named "Limber Bill", "Black Louis", and on and on. I will have a tape recorder and video camera to record these amazing conversations on My trip in June. You will hear from me then if not before.
