My research begins with (G7)Michael "Shane" (probably variant of MacShane)born c 1673 in Northen Ireland. According to a descendant's bible, Michael emigrated to Berlin when he was about 22-years old. He married a German girl named "Mary" Dedric. The anscestor who write in the bible appears to have had a Pennsylvania-German dialect, and he'she also omits vowels, but it's safe to say that Dedric could be any spelling variant of this surname in Germany. Michael and Mary (Dedric) Shane had 3 sons and 1 daughter. Two sons immigrated to America in the 1700s; Thomas came first, and he is my (G6) grandfather. The other son came about 10-years later may be named Peter. I am zeroing in on Thomas's whereabouts, but it would be fabulous to know about the family origin in Germany. I have a German friend helping me in Munich if you can give me any info to pursue a possible connection. I have been pursuing the Palatinite thoery, although this region was further south of Berlin. With the events taking place in Germany during the 1700s it is very possible these families fled to the Palatinites area. Just a hunch~ Michelle in Ohio Alt: e-mail: rainbow_chaser_2@yahoo.com Notify Administrator about this message?
