I don't know much about this family, but I'm trying to find out more!
I am in search of Fannie Dedmon and/or Melissa Dedmon (same person, or sisters? I need help straightening them out!), who was b. c. 1857, dau of William Dedman and Elizabeth Sheehan, in Buncombe Co, NC?. She m. A. Randolph 'Joe' MCCLATCHEY, 24 December 1872. Their children were Ernest J. MCCLATCHEY born November 1876 in Buncombe Co, NC and Roscoe Conklin MCCLATCHEY born 2 February 1877 in Arden, Buncombe Co, NC. Fannie divorced from Joe McClatchy circa 1877.
I am having an awful time tracing Joe's family, but I do know that his parents were Samuel Earl MCCLATCHEY, b. c. 1819, NC, and Melinda UNKNOWN. Joe was b. about 1850. Joe's second wife was Margaret M. 'Maggie' GAVIN, m. 5 June 1892, she apparently divorced him also, c 1899. Joe died while attempting to escape from jail in 1900. Hence the reason why it's difficult to trace him -- nobody wants to admit being his relative.
