Hi cousins:
I've recently begun researching the Decoste (my mother's mother) family. From the Ste-Madeleine church records& cemetery in Rigaud, Quebec, I found among others:
Pierre Decoste, d. 4 March 1856 @ age 77, spouse of Suzanne Larocque/Rocbrune (this is the way it was spelled in the church list).
The Drouin marriage dictionary gives their wedding date as Oct. 4 1803, Vaudreuil. It also lists Charles & Charlotte Desforges (corrected to Deforges)as his parents.
Have you worked out how Charles & Charlotte Deschenes-Miville fit in?
My problem is my gg-grandfather Francois. The same Drouin dictionary lists my g-grandfather as Leon Decoste, s/o of Francois & Felicite Surprenant. However, several marriages show Francois Decoste and Cecile Surprenant as parents, but none with Felicite as the mother.I'm wondering if Felicite & Cecile could be the same person. Can anyone help me on this?
I've got several names from the Rigaud church & cemeteries & would be glad to answer any questions if I can.
Pauline Lapointe
