Caroline,

I took a look at the 1880 census and it doesn't actually list William as Margaret's son. It does list Florenz as her daughter.

So I thought that perhaps Margaret was not William's mother. Actually from ages it seemed more likely that Florenz would be the mother.

Also in the column for single, married, widowed, Margaret is shown as widowed and Florenz is shown as married.

So I looked for Margaret Fullerton in 1870 census and found her with husband and children.

1870 LOWELL, KENT, MI
FULLERTON

Samuel, age 49, wagon maker, born NY

Margaret, age 43, keeping house, born NY

Florence , age 14 born MI

Ernest, age 11, born MI

so this confirmed that Florence was a Fullerton so Decker was her married name.

I am going to see what more I can find for you on these folks but wanted to give you what I ha found so far.

Carolyn L
