Brenda, I have found some info on your family. From what I found on John William Rowe I found some info on a Clara Decker who may be yours. I am not totally sure. Here is what I found so far. U.S. WORLD WAR 11 DRAFT REGISTRATION John William Rowe, age 63 Address: 816 Que. Street, Sacramento Born: January 23, 1879, Jackson, OH Employer: California Packing Co. Plant #12, 2nd P St. Sacramento Wife: Clara WORLD WAR 1 DRAFT REGISTRATION (this was hard to read but I wil give you what I could make out John William Rowe born: Jan. 23, 1879 employed at: Unitd Alloy Steel Corp. Looks like his job was stock foreman residence: Canton, Stark, OH nearest relative: Roland Richard Rowe SSDI - shows his death date as November 13, 1959 Father: Rowe Mother; Wezel You mentioned the 1930 census so I will not copy it here, but I did notice that for age first married John is shows as first married age 19 and Clara first married age 24. This tells me that both of them were married before. Both John and Clara show mothers born KY. I don't think this is right from what else I have found. Census information is only as good as the memory of the person giving the info of course. The California Death Index shows Clara L. Rowe as born Oct. 30, 1879 Ohio, and dying March 3, 1955, Sacramento.. It shows her father as a Decker So, I looked for a Clara Decker born 1879 OH with father born Germany. 1900 CANTON, STARK, OH (I thought this was interesting as same town as John was in for WW1 draft reg. and this is one reason I felt t his may be the right Clara) DECKER Leonard, age 51, widower, born Oct. 1848, Germany both parents born Germany, immigrated 1851, molder (sick) in same house BRIGG Theresa, daughter, age 27, born August 1872 OH father born Germany mother born OH, housekeeper Clarence L., grandson, age 7, born Feb. 1893 KY father born MN mother born OH, at school DECKER Leonard, son age 18, born Sept. 1881, OH father born Germany mother born OH, boilermaker Clara, daughter age 20, born Oct. 1879, OH father born Germany mother born OH, watch maker Edward, son age 16, born Oct. 1883, Oh father born Germany mother born OH laborer Andrew, son age 14, born March 1896 OH father born Germany mother born OH at school Frank, son age 10, born July 1889 OH father born Germany mother born Ohio at school Frederick, son age 10, born July 1889, OH father born Germany, mother born Ohio at school Mary, daughter, age 9, born May 1891, OH father born Germany mother born OH, at school 1880 CINCINNATI, OH DECKER Leonard, age 32, born Germany Trehse, age 27, born Trehse, age 7 born OH Florence, age 5, born OH Ida, age 3, born OH Clara, age 7/12 born OH (says Nov. but 1900 census says Oct.) all children show both parents born Germany so this does not agree with 1900 census but it is same family so ??? 1870 CINCINNATI, HAMILTON, OH DECKER Micheal, age 26, locksmith born Baden Rosa age 25, born OH Rosa, age 2, born OH Catharin age 4/12 born OH (Feb.) Daniel age 66, born Baden, looks like it says he is infirm at home Leonard, age 21, born Baden, cannot read occupation looks like he is living with his brother Micheal and Daniel is likely their father. I tried to find them in 1860 but had no luck. They should be there if Leonard came in 1851 as the census says. Perhaps if you send for Clara's death record and marriage record you will find her parents names to confirm if this is the right family or not. There is a researcher who has an entry at familysearch.org She has her contact info there Her name is Susan Virginia BRIGGS http://www.familysearch.org/eng/default.asp I had searched for a Leonard Decker born Germany 1848 and there were a few entries with his name and birth date Oct. 16,1848 They all show his parents as Joseph (Josef Jakob) Dekcer and his mother as Maria Anna Dinger The Oct. 1848 date agrees with 1900 census for Leonard. Susan above shows his wife as Theresa Nieder. She shows same parents as the others do. This does make one wonder about the census above with Daniel - I am not sure if that is the right family or if Daniel is perhaps Michael's father but not Leonard's? Perhaps an uncle. A lot of checking to do I suppose. Carolyn Notify Administrator about this message?
