John and Catherine Decker + Brinker

I am researching the Brinker family and found
1860 Census Saluda, Jefferson, Indiana;
Series: M653 Roll: 270 Page: 547; 225-223 (page 31):
John H. Decker, age 31, Day Laborer, personal $50, born Kentucky,
/ Catherine 24 Indiana / Ruana Brinker 36 Domestic Indiana
/ Mary M. Brinker 15 Indiana / Hulda Brinker 4 Indiana
/ William H. Brinker 2 Indiana. Morgan Brinker is not
listed in the household.
I was interested in finding out who John H. Decker may be and why the Brinkers were living in his home after the death of the father Morgan Brinker. Does anyone know if there is a relationship? According to census Ruana is perhaps a hired domestic and no relationship exists? I would not think a man with only $50 personal property would necessarily hire a domestic? Any help appreciated.
