Leo Q. Kent, Christian, family man, proud American Veteran, avid sportsman, and number one Indiana University fan of Bloomington, died on Saturday at North Michigan Hospital in Petoskey, Michigan. Born August 14, 1918, in Brown County, he was the son of Charles and Ethel (Deckard) Kent.
Leo was the assistant manager of the Central Stores for Indiana University. He was an Army veteran of World War II and a member of the North Central Church of Christ. His passing leaves an unfillable void of an adoring family, wife of 67 years and the hearts of all IU fans.
Survivors include his wife Doris M. (Noel) Kent of Bloomington; two daughters, R. Joy Lucas of Montgomery, AL, Twyla Anita Lamb of Franklin, IN; three sons, David Leo Kent of Boyne City, MI, Charles Russell Kent of Knoxville, TN, and Stephen Lavelle Kent of Indianapolis; one sister, Martha Rose of Nashville, IN; one brother Dale Kent of Bloomington; ten grandchildren, Karla Lewellyn, Danon Lucas, David Charles Kent, Kenton Lucas, Brian Lamb, Matt Lamb, Stephen Lucas, Aaron Kent, Adam Kent and Katherine Lamb; and one great-granddaughter, Emily Lewellyn.
He was preceded in death by his parents; one brother, Edmond Kent; and one sister, Opal Kent.
Services will be on Wednesday at 1:30 p.m. at Allen Funeral Home with Steve Kent and Larry Lamb officiating. Burial will follow at Rose Hill Cemetery with the Veterans Honor Guard having military rites.
Friends may call on Tuesday from 2-8 p.m. and Wednesday from 11:00 a.m. until service time.
