I am looking for information and clue about a document I have. It comes from a book, but I only have 2 pages from it. They were photocopied or copied by typwriter. I do not know which. They have been in my family for years. I am reprinting them here in their entirety. As you will see, they are very difficult to read and follow. I do not know the locations mentioned, but I would like to re-trace their movement. Also, I do not know the meaning of some of the titles these people held. Any help or information would be very helpful and interesting to me. Unfortunately, I know very very little about my De Castro lineage - not even the most basic information. In fact, everything I know comes from the following document. I have coped it here exactly. In places I could not read, I have placed '*'. From the beginning:

1719. Francis Joeseph De Castro of Toledo.
Riding Master, Lord of Puyvelde became high sheriff of the land of Waes by patent letter from his majesty, and took oath after the vacancy by death of Mr. DeNeve, of Ten Rooden, on the 14th June of that year. He was nephew to the one who is found higher up on page 202, and seventh son of Don Jacques De Castro, of Toledo, Lord of Berlaers and of Bareeldonck, Captain of infantry in the service of Spain, died the 11th day of June, in the year 1668 interred at Berlaers, near Lokeren, his mother was Dame Antoinette Claire De Hertoghe, died the 20th of June, 1700 before his promotion he was cornet of Spanish Curiassiers, and died at Brussels after having resigned his charge in favor of his son Francis Joseph, and was buried in **RI Notre Dame De La Chapelle. He was a pious and courageous man.
Francisco Christoval Sanchez De Castro
Riding Master, High Sheriff of the land of Waes in 1637, son of Don Diego Sanchez De Castro, Lord of Berlaers and of Bareldonck, native of Castille, Spain, and Dona Joanna Lopez, of Toledo, daughter of Don Francisco and of Catherine Bayart. In his youth he had been sergeant-major of a German regiment in the service of Spain. He died in the month of December, 1682, after having lived a good Roman Catholic and a man of benevolence, he fought all his life for the cause of his God, and for the Holy Church, and for his King.

Riding Master, Lord of Puyvelde Velpe Averhem, came to the charge of High Sheriff of the land of Waes through the resignation of his father, made by him in his favor, which was agreed to by patent letters of his Majesty, on the 9th of December of that year, and took the required oath of the 30th of October following.

He was the son of Francis and Dame Jacqueline De Gouselis, and died in the parish of St. Nicholas the 6th of April 1766 and had his sepuleher in the parish church in the tomb of the family Heroghe, leaving from his wife Dame Maria Catherina De Neve, a son and two daughters married to two brothers, Messrs De Beelen Bertholf in the town of Brussels, this son married and from this marriage has issued Jean Baptiste De Castro, *** grandfather and grandfather of Janette De Castro, that is Arnold De Castro and his sister, this Jean Baptiste De Castro had several children by the first marriage, he had Pierre, Augustin and Jean De Castro, this latter was the grandfather of Mrs. Johanna Leist, wife of Dr. Friedrick Leist, of Weinheim, Baden, Germany, and grandfather of Mrs. Mary Moody, wife of William Moody, of Halifax, Nova Scotia.
This Jean De Castro established himself at Elberf?d, Prussia, taking with him his son Charles De Castro, born 11th August 1798. The mother of Charles was Barbe Van De Vyver. This Charles was the father of Jean De Castro, Mrs. Leist and Mary De Castro, Mrs. Moody.
The coat of arms is still to be seen at St. Nicholas, quite nearby the castle of De Castro, the same town in which lived in the year 1799, that father of Arnold De Castro. Grandfather Arnold De Castro was proprietor and editor of the "Klok Flamish", Catholic Journal.

Sorry this is such a long post. As you can see this is nearly impossible to straighten out. I am not even confident that I have correctly identified who was the father of who. Mary De Castro at the end is my Great Great Great Grandmother. Please Help!
