There are some tantalizing connections between Debusk, Majors, and the McGhee surnames.I find a Nancy MAJORS who married an Asa McGHEE in Jefferson Co., TN, on 12 May 1806.
Also, in Montgomery Co., VA, where my MAJORS ancestors lived in the late 1700's (and some of your DEBUSK ancestors probably), in the 1782 land tax records for Montgomery Co., VA, there is a Samuel McGHEE, owns 30 acres, valued at $10.My Thomas MAJORS also owned land there in 1782, 200 acres valued at $20.I don't find any DEBUSK in the 1782 tax list.In the 1788 tax record for Montgomery Co., VA, there is recorded on Dec 31, 1788, tax for Robert McGee, 0 males under age 16, 0 slaves, and 8 horses.Tax paid by John McGee, including one stud horse. In the 1749 tax list there is a William Magee there.
Interesting stuff!
