Looking for information on the parents of the Rebecca DeBow b. 1748-1754 ?NJ? who married c.1770 NJ Capt. John Sanford bapt. May 20, 1744 CT. Her parents are sometimes given as John DeBow b. August 17, 1728 d. April 25, 1817 and Jannette or Jannetje Van Ness. However, the only Jannet(t/j)e Van Nesses I can find so far either are reliably married to someone else at the relevant time, or were born too late to be Rebecca's mother (1744). Does anyone know the primary data for any of this? I only have it second or third hand. Could it be that Jannette was Rebecca's stepmother? Rebecca is my 4ggrmthr. Had she in fact been the daughter of the Jannette b. 1744, it would have given my parents a common ancestor in America.
The birthdate and ancestors of the Jannetje Van Ness b. 1744 is in "The Ancestors and Descendants of Simon Van Ness and Hestor Delamater." Unfortunately no spouse or children.
