DEBNAM

I am looking for my maternal family line - DEBNAM. They were farmers living in a hamlet just outside Clavering village, a place called 'Brick House End'. Herbert Debnam was my mothers grandfather m. Hannah Mary Clayton/Clayden abt.1895 they had approx 8 children during the early 1900's, both were born approx 1870. It is beleived Herbert lived in the Cheshunt area for a time, and I think that Hannah Mary or her mother may have been a servant at Berden Hall. They are buried in St Nicholas churchyard, Berden. I have been unable to trace them via the 1881 census. Most of the family is either still living in the Berden area or Saffron Walden & Braintree & North London. I am looking for a start point for this research - can anyone help!
Many Thanks

Gaynor Beck
