Gary, I am not sure we have all the records of all of his
children here but here is what I have on Lemuel After being
in this forum for a while I have noticed that there are a
lot of Lemuels but this is my gg grandfather and this is the
records that I have of him and his family. There were some of
the children that were left in DeSoto County Ms. when he went
off to Gonzales with two of his sons. Sorry I couldn't be of
more help with Mary but at least maybe you will have a
little more info on the DeBerry family.
5. Lemuel DeBERRY* Born 1790 in Montgomery County,
North Carolina.
Married Elizabeth WILSON, daughter of Joseph WILSON,
ca. 1811.
After losing money on trying to navigate the Pee Dee
river in North Carolina, the family moved to
Henderson County, Tenn. before 1820.
1830 Census of Henderson Co., Tenn. listed Lemuel as
a farmer.
After 1840, the family moved to DeSoto Co., Mississippi.
1850 Census of DeSoto Co., Mississippi showed that
four children were living with Lemuel and Elizabeth.
Last known record of Lemuel was that of his letter to
his brother, Edmund of N.C. stating that he was in
Gonzales, Texas with two of his sons, Henry and
Benjamin, dated 18th June 1855.
Death records and burial location of Lemuel and
Elizabeth are not known.

b. Nancy DeBERRY (1820- ) married E.S.P. BOYNTON
January 1, 1851, DeSoto Co., Miss.
c.* Benjamin DeBERRY (April 11, 1826 - Sept. 24, 1903)
married Mrs.Martha Jane Young HUBERT February 6,
1868 in Gonzales Co., Texas.
d. William Lafayette DeBERRY (November 11, 1836 -
April 2, 1902) married Louisa Jane DAVIDSON.
Surgeon in the Confederate Army
(2nd Arkansas Regiment Mounted Rifles). Operator
of saw mill in Chester Co., Tennessee after the war.
e. Lemuel DeBERRY, Jr. (1840 - )
f. Benjamin DeBERRY
Benjamin was born April 11, 1826 Married Mrs. Martha
Jane Young HUBERT February 6, 1868 in Gonzales Co.,
Texas.
