Thanks I will check this out, it does seem to be the same family.
As far as the Ligons, my Ford cousins and I have been trying to find a connection to Ligons for years. They are in Amelia Co. VA at the same time my Fords were, and later Spartanburg SC, they are neighbors, witness deeds, wills, etc. of each other but so far have not found marriages amongst these families.
There is a Helen Smith who is researching this line of Ligons, I no longer have her email address, but you may find her on Ligon and/or Ford forums.
Amelia Co, VA D B 12 p 83: 24 Jun 1773 Robert Ligon of Amelia Co transfers to William Ligon, Sr land in Amelia Country.....Witnesses: William Ford.... [See 1773 below. The same deed?]
1773-Amelia Co , VA DB 12; p 83; William Ligon, Sr of Amelia Co to Robert Ligon of same 24 Jun 1773...Wm Ligon is indebted to Robert Ligon....To secure the debt Wm Ligon Sr agrees that his property consisting of 300 acres of land in Amelia Co......all his household furniture of every kind.....may be put up at public auction to settle the debts. Wit: William Ford [see first Sptbg Co deed], Peter Farley and George Mageor.

improvements made by William Ford; on E side of Tygar R; border: his sons John
Ligon and Robert Ligon, Jr; Robert Sr bought 450 ac from William Ford.

1804- 24 Sep; Sptbg Co D B I p 452-454; John Ligon to Thomas Cook ...on N Tygar R; border;....and S, E & N Robert Legon JR; part of tract sold by William Ford to Robert Legon Sr who sold to John Legon......Dower renounced Mary Legon to Wm Lancaster.
