"Elias Deaton lived fifty years ago near the Cross - Roads; he was an "old Baptist Preacher" a man of very common intellect and not much cultivation; he raised several very rowdying boys ; . . .. he moved over forty years ago to West Tennessee, and there joined the Non-Resurrectionists and finally the Universilist ; . . . . . "
