I'm searching for the parents of William M. Deaton, born circa1803 Montgomery County, NC; married circa1834 AL, Martha J. Hurd; died 17 Sep. 1868, New Burnside, Johnson County, IL. William and Martha had 12 children:
1. John b. ca1836 Dekalb Co., AL m. 21 June 1859 Pheby C. Alpin, Johnson Co., IL
2. Sarah Jane b. ca1838 Dekalb Co., AL m. 22 Aug. 1860 Wm. H. Whiteaker, Johnson Co., IL
3. Elizabeth b. 05 Oct. 1839 Dekalb Co., AL m. 24 Oct. 1860 Mark Whiteaker, Johnson Co., IL d. 04 Feb 1937 Vienna, Johnson Co., IL (My great-great grandparents)
4. Joseph b. ca1841 Dekalb Co.AL d. 22 July 1864 (Killed in battle near Atlanta, GA; George W. Deaton, cousin to Joseph, was also killed in battle near Atlanta on the same day; Dixon Deaton another cousin to Joseph, died of Typhoid Fever 06 Apr. 1862, at Fort Donelson, TN. All three were in the Civil War.)
