My husband was a descendant of JOHN DEATHERAGE and SARAH CLOUD, through their daughter MILLIE ANN DEATHERAGE, who married ROBERT (S?) STEWART in Morgan Co., Ill. in 1827, if memory serves me correctly. ROBERT and MILLIE ANN (a/k/a ELEANOR) moved to Polk Co., Mo., before 1850, but in 1850 were in the census of Hickory Co., Mo. His line of descent is then through ROBERT and MILLIE'S son WILLIAM RILEY STEWART and his first wife AMANDA CATHERINE TODD; through their daughter ELZONA STEWART who married GEORGE THOMAS WILSON, through their daughter GEORGIA FRANCES WILSON who married AUGUSTUS MITCHELL HOOK--my husband's parents. In one published work that includes this family the author mistakenly assumes that MILLIE is deceased and that ROBERT had remarried, since the wife in the census was listed as ELEANOR, however, in the next census the wife was again listed as MILLIE ANN. So I submit that MILLIE ANN and ELEANOR are one and the same. We have done a great deal of work on the STEWART line and have never had even an inkling that ROBERT was married more than the one time, other than someone who descends from the second marriage of WILLIAM RILEY STEWART saying he married an "Indian squaw," in the Hickory Co., Mo. area in the late 1800's. This is a really wild story they tell, but knowing what I do about genealogy, about this family from the many years I have researched the STEWARTS, and what I know of Indian localities and ancestry, I have not given this any consideration. We have letters written to him about 1890 from his brother ELIAS STEWART of Eugene, Oregon. There is no indication in these letters that ROBERT was married after MILLIE ANN's death. CHARLENE HOOK
