I recently stumbled across "Memoirs of J.G. Deatherage", an account of Civil War times in Arkansas and Missouri. The document, from the Western Historical Manuscript Collection of the University of Missouri - Columbia, was written or likely dictated by John Greer Deatherage, b. 1837, d. 1924, m. Isabelle Collis Crane. He was the son of Bird4 (Bird3, George2, William1) b. January 17, 1814 in Tennessee and d. 1908 in Flippin, Marion County Arkansas and Lucinda Allen C. Pollard, b. January 17, 1814 (same birthday?)
d. August 10, 1896 (Tobin).

This is truly a gem of a story, giving much credance to the hardships all war affected families endured during those times. I did re-type the document from a copy of the original dated November 16, 1916. This is in a WORD format. I will be glad to e-mail or snail mail to anyone who gives me an address.
