Rhonda, Thanks for your reply.

I didn't realize that Cynthia (Jincy) had remarried - I now find her in the Mt. Zion cemetery with Powell George.

The 1800's were pretty tough on the Deatherages of Moniteau County; Leabon's brother, David 'Reed' Deatherage drowned in Splice Creek near Lupus, Mo. in September of 1883, Leabon died in 1884, brother Franklin died in 1885 (see the Moniteu Co., 'Unknown' cemetery list at http://www.moniteau.net/cemetery/unknown/unknown.htm#D ), and brother William Gale Deatherage died in March of 1888. Of these, the only headstone I have found is that of William.

I pretty sure Leabon, Reed, and Franklin are also buried in Mt. Zion; I've been there several times and find most of the Deatherage graves from that era arranged in two lines near the center of the cemetery. Several of the head stones are broken and unreadable but still mark a burial within these Deatherage lines of graves.

My gr grandmother, Jeanetta, was first married to David Reed Deatherage; one of their daughters was Ida Lee Deatherage who married David Hutchison. Ida & David Hutchison are buried side by side in one of the Deatherage lines, then there is a broken headstone, and then there is Jeanetta's grave. I suspect the broken headstone is David Reed's.

Thanks again for the info about Leabon & Jincy.

Dave Deatherage
