We're not supposed to gossip about living people, so let me say that you will find something interesting if you go to google.com and search on the words: "mark deatherage" lindy "deatherage letters" After that, you can appreciate the fact that I have seen the obituary of John Frederick DEATHERAGE on page 3 of the LaGrande Observer for 15 March 1974. It says John lived from 06 May 1918 to 14 March 1974. (But Social Security says he was born 17 May 1918.) Further, it says he was born in Hoberg, MO and grew up in Harlem, MT. Using that information, one can look up in the 1920 and 1930 censuses and find that John's father was William N. DEATHERAGE who was born in 1878 in MO. Then you can go to familysearch.org and perform the search for "William DEATHERAGE, birth, 1878, US, Missouri" and find there a long pedigree in the Ancestral File. (Going backwards from William the males were: Alfred F. D., Alexander Jackson Perry D., Alfred D., Lewis D., & John D.) As it happens this particular bunch of DEATHERAGE's skipped Tennessee and went directly from North Carolina to Shannon co, MO some time roughly around 1870. I think I have some old information on paper about the Shannon co DEATHERAGEs, but it would be inconvenient to actually have to produce it. (But let me know if it's really important.)
