======================================== The 1916 article in the Lookout Magazine is the earliest source I have for William's marriage. Every other mention probably derives from that source. I think that John Bailey Calvert Nicklin... The next record I am aware of that lists "William Deatherage and his wife, Susan Eastham" is an article by Nicklin. The citation for that article is Nicklin, John B.C. "The Strother Family". Tyler's Quarterly Magazine, v.ix, #4, p. 251, April 1930..." end quote. ======================================== ouch...can we verify that the article(s) are referring to the William d'first and not the other later-dated William and Susan... ======================================== Now, all we have to do is find where Nicklin got his data. Right now I am contemplating a possible trip to the Rappahannock Historical Society to see if they have a copy of the second source. I will give them a call on 04 Aug, and ask some questions. Knowing their small budget - I'll have to give them a second call to see if what they have is worth the full day trip... ======================================== after watching Gods & Generals and seeing shots of the Blue Ridge, I'd do it in a New York second...3-4 hours beats the heck outta 20 whatever driving just to get there...it's been a LONG time...guess I'm home sick and Lord knows Achilles didn't stay that long...
