Deas/Cox in Carroll Co., TN c. 1850

My gggm was Mary E. Cox, b. 1826 in NC, married John Stokes 1841 in Carroll Co., TN. One of their children was Holden Deas Stokes, b. 1858 AR. In the 1840 Henry Co., TN Census,p. 486 there are:
Holden Cox, 30-40, 1 fem 30-40, 2 fem 15-20, 2 males 10-15, 3 fem 5-10, 1 fem <5
James Dees, 50-60, 1 fem 30-40, 1 male 15-20, 2 males 10-15, 1 fem 5-10, 3 males 5-10, 1 fem <5.

Holden Cox is surely the person for whom Mary's son Holden Deas is named. The proximity to James Dees suggests that there might be a family connection.
Does anyone know of marriages or other relationships between Coxes and Deases that might account for this name?
