Johnny Grant (1833-1907) was born into the fur trade at Ft. Edmonton. During his lifetime he was a fur trader, one of Montana's early settlers and a rancher.He also settled the area of Carman, Manitoba, and played a role in the 1869-70 Riel Resistance.His last years were spent at Edmonton, where he dictated his life’s stories to his wife, Clotilde Bruneau.These stories have just been published by University of Alberta Press (0-88864-491-4)under the title, A Son Of The Fur Trade; Editor Gerhard Ens; Genealogy by Anita Grant Steele.
A book signing event for A Son Of The Fur Trade, the complete Johnny Grant memoir, is being held the evening of December 4th at Ft. Edmonton historic site, Edmonton, Alberta, Canada.All families and interested parties are invited.
