Have found out that David & John Deas were merchants in Charleston. David introduced the game of golf to the USA in 1743 by having "Eight dozen gold clubs & three gross golf balls" brought over from his father in Leith, Scotland. John was a member of the Mason's Kilwinnig Lodge of Charleston. He married Elizabeth Allen , May 3, 1759. John may have married a Mary Michie ( a widow) Feb 12, 1750. Any other information would be greatly appreciated.
