Eliazabeth, I have a photocopy of a civil war era photograph of James Madison Deas who may be the one you list in your posting. My partner Jerry Deas, acquired this image through someone with Deas roots living in New Oreleans. If you'd like I can scan this picture of James M. Deas and send it to you as an attachment. He looks to be only a teenager in the photo (c. 1862-64), but he is wearing a rebel uniform and looks quite "menacing." :)
