Hi, I am a Mississippi Dearman. I have found that in most cases the spellings have changed because back then a lot of our ancestors couldn't read nor write. Therefore they would spell their last name the way it sounded or whomever spelled it for them would spell it the way it sounded. It really makes since for that to happen. Hope this has helped you. I know my family is from some part of Al. and settled in Lauderdale CO. MS. I will have to go back and research again. I have a bad memory. There is a website I will respond again with it as soon as I find it again.

Shelly
